Our client, a major organization within the public sector, has asked Bagg Technology Resources to assist them in finding a Mainframe Development Lead to join their reputable organization on a long-term contact. The Mainframe Development Lead will assist the organization with aligning business expectations to technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Technical system analysis
  • Quantify both technical and functional impact of affected system modifications
  • Work with technical solution design approaches
  • Perform Technical/Functional feasibility studies
  • Work with Developers, Schedulers [batch], Operational staff, other SMEs
  • Responsible for analysis of business automation environments and maximizing the utilization of Enterprise
  • Scheduling and Mainframe Automation Software
  • Provide application teams with analysis on problem determination and resolution of scheduling issues
  • Ability to be a technical interface between engineering and database teams to provide innovative and efficient approach to scheduling complex batch processes
  • Put together training and presentation materials related to application development
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements are met for applications supported
  • Follow up on production control issues from daily change requests
  • Ensure daily scheduling requests are completed accurately and
  • Support testing process framework (Development, System and Business testing lifecycles)
  • Familiarity in managing within a compliance framework
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Mainframe/Middleware developer background
  • Proven working experience as a Mainframe Developer (CICS/Cobol/JCL/VSAM/SUPRA/DB2)
  • Work experience as a technical System Analyst
  • Work experience using Agile methodology
  • Work experience within fast paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently, and within team atmosphere
  • Strong analytical, technical, and organizational skills
  • Mainframe System Automation
  • Strong attention to details
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Experience with Lotus Notes, SAS, FOCUS is a definite bonus
  • Schedule (CA-7, CAD and/or Batch runner) experience is an asset
